Are You Planning To Cancel Your Gym Membership?- Five Reasons Not To

If you are planning to quit your workouts and cancel your gym membership contract, read this first.Quitting gym workouts

You might change your mind.

Just a few months ago when I was thinking about doing the same thing, I came across an article written by a 10 year old little girl about how eating healthy and exercising saved her mom’s life.

Though my intention was not to quit working out for good, just thought I’d design my home workout routine, the message hit home in a special way.

Her story of how her mother was able to turn her life around after suffering from extreme depression and obesity related illnesses, and how grateful and proud she was of her mother’s courage to change, made me wonder about my reasons to want to stay healthy.

As I read about her thoughts on why people should change their eating habits the way her mother did, I thought about  five major reasons I am commited to work out and eat healthier, and I wanted to share them with you:

1-Fewer doctor visits (if any)-I don’t get as sick. After 20+ years of staying away from most junk food, and exercising regularly, I have NEVER been to the doctor for being sick.

2-High self esteem-Accomplishing my fitness goals more often than not, gives me a sense of confidence and satisfaction. The regular challenges I give myself to stay on track give me that special powerful feeling of being on top of the world… nothing like a great hike or gym session to get me that natural, ‘high’ that lasts all day (who needs drugs?).

3-Eating “right” -and working out keep my skin youthful, and my body strong; I feel and look much younger than my chronological age…I know my bones could take a fall or two without major injuries or straining…. (Resistance training keeps your muscle-skeletal system strong)

4-Very High Energy Levels-I have lots of energy throughout the day and rarely experience the fatigue or sleepiness typical of low sugar levels at mid-day…you know, the ‘I need a cookie fix’ feeling.

The thing is this, the more energy I have the better I feel, and the more I can accomplish as a result. My gym routines are short and simple (45min) but effective.

No need to spend 2-3 hours at the gym unless you’re into body-building or want to run the risk of giving up your sessions for lack of ‘time’

5-I sleep better at night-It doesn’t matter if I work out early in the morning or later in the evening; a good hike or a full gym routine always have that relaxing effect on my mind. To me, nothing like working out to relieve stress and even to get rid of that occasional headache.

Those are my main five reasons.

What about you…what are YOUR reasons?…Is it time for a little self-discipline into your sedentary life and start moving?
