September is a month of National Championships in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ®, thus it’s a month that witnesses many celebrations. From the Tire Rack Â鶹ÊÓƵ ProSolo® Finale to the Tire Rack Â鶹ÊÓƵ Solo® National Championships and the kickoff of the National Championship Runoffs® Presented by Sunoco, September offers a lot for motorsports enthusiasts. And that’s not counting the Tire Rack Â鶹ÊÓƵ Time Trials Nationals that takes place smack-dab in the middle of it all. But there’s another reason to celebrate in September, and that’s because 94 people are celebrating a milestone membership anniversary of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70 years this month.
One member who’s got a lot of reasons to celebrate is Margaret Binks. Marge was Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s first female chair of the National Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Directors, has been recognized with the David Morrell Memorial Award and the Woolf Barnato Award – then in 2007, she was inducted into the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Hall of Fame. Marge originally joined the Club in September 1965, meaning she’s been having #funwithcars for 65 incredible years – more, actually, since her involvement with San Diego Region actually began in1962.
During that time, she’s held a license in virtually every specialty and served as the Grid Chief for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Long Beach and Las Vegas, as well as being the Race Chair for over a hundred events, including Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Formula 1, IMSA, Champ Car, and USAC.
